Welcome to Andrea, our new PhD student!

We are excited to welcome Andrea De Luca, who joined the e-Lite research group as a PhD student on September 15, 2026!

Andrea is beginning his PhD in Computer and Control Engineering (42nd cycle), supervised by Alberto Monge Roffarello with the collaboration of Luigi De Russis.

Andrea has a background in human-computer interaction and digital wellbeing, having completed his MSc in Cinema and Media Engineering at Politecnico di Torino in October 2025. For his master's thesis, he conducted an experimental analysis of the impact of TikTok's design patterns on the users' sense of agency. The results of the thesis were then presented, as a poster, at the ACM CHI 2026 conference.

In line with this work, Andrea's doctoral research focuses on digital wellbeing, specifically on we can measure, in a multimodal way, the effect of dark patterns on people's agency, attention, and wellbeing.
