ZigBee is wireless network standard based on IEEE standard 802.15.4 and is especially used for embedded domotic devices (smart plugs, power meters, environmental control, ...). The first ZigBee-based toolkits and devices are starting to appear on the market, and they are very promising for building low-cost and easily-installable intelligent domotic systems.

The purpose of the thesis is to experiment with ZigBee devices (acquire, test, configure, program) and to integrate them into the DOG platform (by developing a suitable ZigBee driver in DOG). A demonstration application based on power-management concepts (i.e., the management of stand-by mode of connected devices) will be developed during the work.
