Konnex (KNX) is a wired network European standard used for embedded domotic devices, both in domestic environment and in the industry. Recently, the KNX protocol has been updated to better support IP communication networks and an open source library (Calimero) has been developed by the Institute of Computer Aided Automation at TU Wien.
The purpose of this work is to learn how to interact with KNX devices (through the connection with a dedicated gateway) with the Calimero library, and to develop a driver to manage such devices in the Dog platform.
A demonstration application, based on power-management concepts (e.g., retrieve information about power and energy consumption of some devices) and/or device control (e.g., turn lights on/off) will be developed during the work. The outcome of the work, if satisfying, will be made available as an Open Source project, part of the Dog gateway.
Note: this activity is available also as a paid work, for graduated or part-time students.
