Quando vide che l'uomo allungava le dita a rubargli il mistero di una mela proibita
per paura che ormai non avesse padroni lo fermò con la morte, inventò le stagioni. (F. De Andrè)

Dario Bonino (Ph.D) is a research assistant in the e-Lite research group at the Department of Computer Science and Automation of Politecnico di Torino. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electronics and Computer Science Engineering, respectively, from Politecnico di Torino in 2002 and 2006.
His
current research interests include Semantic Web technologies, with
a particular focus on architectures for semantic annotation,
indexing and retrieval of web resources, domotics and
semantic-aware, home-related technologies, distributed systems,
multi-agent systems and semantics-aware web architectures.
He was "technical manager" of the H-DOSE open source semantic elaboration platform (http://dose.sourceforge.net) and collaborated to several other open source projects including ontosphere3D (http://ontosphere3d.sourceforge.net) and DOG (http://domoticdog.sourceforge.net).
He is now leading the semantic modeling sub-team of the DOG gateway development team and he is currently pursuing research (and development) on stream processing applied to domotic and industrial automation systems.
He published 32 papers at international conferences and 12 on international journals.
His Ph.D thesis is entitled "Architectures and Algorithms for intelligent web applications" and can be freely downloaded in [.pdf] and in latex [.tar.gz] or can be bought as full-printed book on Amazon.

SPChains
A stream-processing framework, based upon state-of-the-art
stream processing engines, which enables declarative and modular
composition of stream processing chains built atop of a set of
extensible stream processing blocks. While stream processing blocks
are delivered as a standard, yet extensible, library of
application-independent processing elements, chains can be defined
by the pervasive application engineering team.
DOG
Dog
is a Domotic OSGi Gateway, i.e., a
software-based gateway used for controlling domotic
environments in a vendor-independent way, thanks to its high-level
semantic device modeling strategy and its driver architecture
that allows to support different domotic plant
technologies.

H-DOSE
H-DOSE stands for Holistic Distributed Open Semantic Elaboration; it is an enhanced semantic platform in which the joint adoption of Web Services and Multi Agent Systems enables the provision of easy to access, autonomic and semantic indexing, searching and deep-searching functionalities.
The DOSE project started in 2003 as a research program at the Polytechnic of Turin by the PhD student Dario Bonino under the advising of Prof. Fulvio Corno and Laura Farinetti. Since the spring of 2005 Intellisemantic s.r.l. is actively collaborating with this project, for what concerns performance optimization and future developments.

OntoSphere3D
OntoSphere3D is a Protégé plug-in for ontologies navigation and inspection using a 3-dimensional hyper-space where information is presented on a 3D view-port enriched by several visual cues (as the colour or the size of visualized entities). Furthermore logical views can be defined on this hyper-space in order to easily manage interface complexity when the represented data gets huge, and thousands of concepts and/or relations must be effectively visualized. User interface features direct manipulation operations such as zooming, rotating, and translating objects in order to provide an efficient and intuitive interaction with the ontology model being designed. Since the tool aims at tackling space allocation issues the visualization strategy exploits dynamic collapsing mechanisms and different views, at different granularities, for granting a constant navigability of the rendered model. Ontosphere3D is independently designed and deveolepd by the e-Lite research group at the Polytechnic of Turin.

Seigneur, je t`ai cherchè
parmi les pics et les gouffres
et partout j`ai trouvè Ta trace evidente.
Mais au fond de cet abîme,
mon âme est pleine de Ta paix.
Accorde moi, Seigneur, un
sort favorable; mais, s'il m'arrivait
de perdre la vie que
Tu m'as donnée, fais que je repose
à jamais dans ce silence
enchanté.
